As a specialist corneal and external disease optometrist, she designs specialty contact lenses to restore sight to those who have lost vision due to severe ocular surface conditions, including keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, radial keratotomy, corneal scarring, pediatric aphakia, severe dry eye, corneal transplants, and ocular disfigurement. Dr. Tao is also an orthokeratologist and practices corneal reshaping. She loves helping children and adults regain the freedom of seeing without feeling completely dependent on glasses.

What patients would expect when coming to us for custom lens fitting services:

• We start with a comprehensive medical exam that assesses your entire eye health and your refractive errors. The exam will identify all indications for medical contact lens fitting, including visual improvement, comfort enhancement, pain relief, and protection, taking your lifestyle and other behavioral factors into consideration. The benefits of a thorough assessment are not limited to our new patients. We troubleshoot and refit those who have previously failed with lens wear or suffered suboptimal comfort or vision as well.
• Multiple lens types may be tried during a fitting appointment to determine which lens best meets patients' needs.
• Following the fitting, we will discuss with the patients to make an informed decision about whether to proceed with a fitting or ordering a particular lens.
• ​Please allow two hours for your fitting appointment. Further time may be required in some cases.
• Please bring any contact lenses you have to your appointment, along with spectacles and any previous reports or letters related to your condition.
